At 3:15 a.m., Java’s Brewin’ co-owner Bob Barretta starts baking for the day’s fresh batch of bagels, muffins, and much more. He could probably cut a few corners, sleep in a few extra hours, and sacrifice the quality and freshness of his products — but that just isn’t the way he does things.

Instead, Barretta beats the morning birds to produce one of the finest breakfast ensembles around. This includes an assortment of cupcakes, real egg and egg white sandwiches, and 12 varieties of locally-renowned gourmet muffins, including peach, blueberry, cinnamon crumb, orange pineapple, and Hawaiian. Combine this with a tastily diverse lunch menu, including delicious fresh baked meat and vegetable quiches, Boar’s Head meat sandwiches and apple honey walnut baked chicken salad — the store’s best seller — and you have one recipe for success.

It’s a family operation for the Barrettas, as co-owner and wife Lisa Barretta and their two children, Julie and Amanda, share the responsibilities of running the Java’s Brewin’s two locations. The main shop is located at 296 W. Ridge Pike in Limerick, while the more recently opened satellite location is housed in Pottstown Memorial Medical Center. And while the Barreta’s hold a high standard on food quality, the paramount value that is represented is an incredible commitment to treating customers with friendliness and compassion. “We have a certain way we want customers to be treated, and if they want something a certain way, we’ll figure a way to get it for them,” said Bob Barretta.

This attention to detail is evident in every item that the shop offers. All foods are made from scratch, chicken is baked, and fruits and vegetables are fresh. Drinks are made to order, including natural fruit smoothies with no added sugar, fresh-brewed iced tea, and an assortment of hot and cold coffee drinks, including lattés, cappuccinos, and frappes.
